INCLUSION
SEN at Low Fell Community Pre-school
Our provision care and education reflects and celebrates inclusivity within our community. The Inclusive approach is child-centred with is key to the Early Years foundation stage (EYFS).
We aim to provide an inclusive and stimulating environment for all our children so they can grow and learn together.
SEN Provision
As part of our provision, we support your child's education and development, we do this by providing additional support and looking at our environment, changing it to meet needs. We will do this in collaboration with you, as the parent/carer to ensure we're making the best possible outcomes for your child at pre-school.
Support for you
If you as a parent have any worries or concerns you can first talk to your child's keyworker who is allocated when your child starts.
SENCO
We will also involve our SENCO (Fiona Welsh) if there are concerns, who has a wide range of experience of supporting and referring Children with SEN.
Outside Support
We can include our Area SENCO,
SALT - Speech and Language Therapy;
LINT; HINT; Physio; 0-4; 0-5; Portage for 2 year olds Health Visitors and GP
Qualified SEN Support
Our SENCO holds Level 3 Special Educational Needs qualification. with regular professional updates.All staff access the training as well.
More support

We have experience of caring for children with a variety of needs. We also support children with Medical Needs. We can make and implement a Support plan tailored for your child, as well as help with medication. Please ensure we are made aware of any allergies or intolerances your little one has.

SEN Referral Route
If after talking to Fiona our SENCo you or we feel your child needs more support we can refer to outside agencies.
The Area SENCO from Gateshead council visits every half term
We can refer to SALT, 0-4 team, children can be referred to many agencies to suit your Childs Needs.
Once referred after initial assessment, Speech Therapist, Physio Therapist will often come into Pre-School to work with your child for a block of sessions.
If your Child needs further support we can help with a referral for an EHCP, this involves observation and assessment of your child, including involvement from Educational Phycologist, with regular Parent and professional meetings before applying.
